A beginner’s card-reading guide

Start with rank, suit and category.

Read the notation

A means ace, K king, Q queen and J jack. S, H, D and C identify spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. The tool accepts T or 10 for ten.

Use an observation routine

Read each rank and suit aloud. Look for repeated ranks, a run and a shared suit, then consult the ranking chart.

Learn without stakes

Use invented examples or a deck without betting. Change one card at a time and describe what changed.

Website scope

This site teaches hand classification and comparison. It does not run a game, handle accounts or provide instructions for managing stakes.
